We exhibited in 2008 for the first time and were disappointed with the number of stands and small number of visitors. We did consider exhibiting again this year but decided against it due to the high cost of the stands. We exhibit at a number of events throughout the year and are paying between £250 and £400 for the stand and each of these shows have significantly larger footfalls and exhibition stands which gives a greater opportunity to achieve a RoI. I think the high stand cost puts a lot of commercial companies off and I believe careful consideration should be given to using a smaller venue which will enable you to reduce the stand price to a more competitive level. For £300 it is worth a 'punt' but in the current climate, for £1200, one has to be sure that it will produce a return.

As a local businesswoman it was great to attend a successful business event and have the opportunity to meet other businesses. I attended the search engine optimisation seminar and came away with excellent tips that I am going to implement.

We attended the show for the first time and very, overall, very impressed. Although we understand it was a lot less busy thatn other years, we found plenty of opportunities for research and networking. I forfeited two pre-booked workshops to attend the fringe sessions with Mark Henley and Marc Munier and was very glad I did. My colleague attended other workshops and we both benefitted greatly from their presentations and content. One gripe - that PA system. Too loud and too many announcements, which couldn't be deciphered anyway. Keynote speech was excellent.

The show was well marketed this year, but it needed more going on to keep people there for any length of time. We were disappointed that the town networking didn't happen at all - as networking was one of our main interests. I suggest more workshops, more organised networking events, a smaller venue and a shortened conference with all the speeches and exciting parts happening in quick succession, as we wasted hours in the middle with little to do.

We would like to say that we thoroughly enjoyed being Exhibitors at the Really Useful Business Show 2009.
The day ran very smoothly which is a testament to the hard work yourself, your team and Sussex Enterprise have put into the Event.
We found all the Sussex Enterprise staff extremely helpful and polite.
Meeting the delegates from such a wide range of businesses was great fun, interesting and we learned alot about them.
We would also like to thank you for the great privilege that Blueshift Networks were chosen for the business review with Lord Digby Jones.
The insight and the business advice he gave was very helpful indeed.
Once again we would like to thank all the staff at Sussex Enterprise for all their hard work in organising a great exhibition.

For some reason I did not sign up to any workshops so my visit was limited to the exhibitor stalls and first speaker. I am a new startup. Thought that there would have been more stands and people but enjoyed networking. I attended a BusinessLink day event for women starting up new businesses in Southampton yesterday 'What's stopping you?' This was really useful...and much more pertinent to me in my current situation. Think that there is room for both events - but it might be useful to consider who you want to attract to these events in the future. I only stayed a short while at the Brighton event - not sure how useful it was to start ups, but used it usefully to network. Thank you.

This was the first year for a number of years we have not exhibited and decided to visit instead. Having been a long term exhibitor at this exhibition and many others over the years I have to say that I was really dissapointed with the number of exhibitors and what appeared to be a lack of visitors.
I think the conference and seminars work well but the exhibition needs a complete re vamp with more exhibitors from the commercial sector. I also think that with the amount of exhibition competition around at present you should consider offering a bigger choice of stand sizes at competitive prices to encourage businees's to exhibit. I also think you should run a pre exhibition event to show companies or organisations on how to exhibit as some of the stands this year were basic to say the least. Apart from offering Corporate Gifts & Incentive Marchandise I also run a seminar called "How not to Exhibit" should anyone be interested. www.monkmarketing.com

I thought Martin Henly's talks were excellent. The lack of stands disappointing as in previous years it took up a good part of the day to look round and led nicely into the afternoon for key note speaker. Due to the timings I missed Digby Jones which was a shame. Agree with John C about noise in hall for speakers and fighting against the loudspeaker announcements. However compared to last year I felt generally it was not even close. www.howlettclarke.co.uk

I thought the day was useful, though I was surprised it wasn't better attended - apparently less so than last year. I was also surprised at some of the exhibitors who didn't really seem to be B2B focussed - perhaps they were simply targeting the attendees as individuals? I attended several workshops which were valuable if only to tell me we are doing some things right already. I thought those in the corners of the main hall were badly located as presenters struggled to compete with the ambient noise and had to pause whenever there was an announcement. I think a lesson to be learned would be not to repeat that! Those in the Hewison hall were far better and definately more pleasant to partake in.

The show was very good overall, I only made 2 of the seminars and of course these were excellent. Digby Jones made a lot of sense.
